Facebook testing new feature to boost conversations

The feature is currently being tested alongside its new feed algorithm, which Facebook claimed, will bring more informative content.

Facebook’s mission to improve user experience and get more users on its board is far from over.

The company has been innovating features on its platform to enable better and easier ways to communicate.

Now the company is working on testing a new Twitter-like feature to boost conversations.

The new feature, dubbed ‘What friends are talking about’, is currently in testing phase and tries to increase the frequency of conversations between users and their friends.

The feature primarily records information from recent posts from friends and subsequently places them at the top of a user’s news feed; this allows you to see the comments each post has received. According to Android headlines, the new feature is similar to Twitter where content from people with high interaction rate will appear more on top of the timeline.

The new feature also doesn’t occupy too much space on top. The feature is currently being tested alongside its new feed algorithm, which Facebook claimed, will bring more informative content. Apart from that, Facebook is working significantly hard on their new messenger platform and also improving video playback for assisting businesses interact better with customers.

Although there is no concrete evidence about the future of this new feature and it is also unclear which users may appear at the top of the feed; however, it seems the messenger app will play an important role in deciding who will appear most on your news feed.

Also, info from WhatsApp will now be shared with Facebook’s family, which will allow the company to utilise communication data from the instant messaging app as well.

WhatsApp gets another big update; doodle, text and more

WhatsApp’s new beta update brings in additional features when sharing photos with friends.

WhatsApp, the single messaging platform that has been used and followed by billions around the world, has recently got another big update which allows users to do more with photos.

When you click a photo, or choose one from your gallery of existing pictures and photos, you add more content to jazz up the image before sharing it. As soon as you click a new picture or choose from the existing gallery, you can see that a few new tools are added to the window. These include doodling, adding text and inserting emojis on the photo itself.
When on the photo sharing mode, previously users could only add a caption. But now you can also add overlays of emojis and also draw with a pencil on the photo and also add your own text directly on the photo. The tool is available on the top of the photo window.
The new features were included in version 2.16.260 beta and higher, and not yet available publically. It is only available to beta testers. If you want to be a beta tester and want to avail of early updates before anyone else gets it, click on the link below.
The icons available on the top comprise of step-by-step undo, crop, emoji, text and doodle (or draw). Unfortunately, you cannot increase or decrease the size of the emojis or the text you add to the photos. Deleting the emojis or the text is pretty simple—simply tap and hold on them and drag it to the top-left corner of the window where a recycle bin icon is available.
The update is presently only seen on Android and iPhone users would have to probably wait a few days to see the new feature on their smartphones.
